Chinguacousy Secondary School (i/tʃɪŋˈkuːzi/) founded in 1972, is a high school located in Brampton, Ontario, Canada. Since 2000, the school's enrollment has expanded with the development of the surrounding area. Chinguacousy was considered a holding school until the newer school Sandalwood Heights Secondary School. The school sports teams and athletic programs have won a number of OFSAA championships; wrestling (1991, 1992, 1993, 1995), curling (1996, 1998), and rugby (1982). Chinguacousy became competitive in basketball and has won several titles since 2000. Additionally, Chinguacousy won the Canada First National Robotics Championship in 1998, while teamed with Mayfield Secondary School and Spar Aerospace. In 2011, the Junior Boys Cross Country team won the ROPSSAA Championship for the first time since 1997. Chinguacousy is currently expanding their building to accomendate the SciTech program(North of Highway 401) which planned to open in September 2012.
The Chinguacousy Secondary School students are the driving force behind the school's breakfast program each morning. Each week, this team of student volunteers helps provide more than 300 breakfasts to their schoolmates. Each day between 7 and 10 a.m., about 60 students have access to a nutritious and fresh breakfast consisting of bagels, cheese spreads, juices, cereals, milk, cereal bars for 50 cents. The breakfast program volunteers must maintain an excellent academic average to participate.
